Introduction to Meth Screening

For applicants who do not meet the Careerforce pre-requisite for the Meth Screening and Sampling NZQA Certification but are still interested in gaining this qualification:

MethSolutions has a collaborative approach and is a values-led organisation. The industry needs to grow and, in doing so, ensure that best practice, as outlined in NZS 8510:2017 for screening assessments, is achieved.

We have tailored an online programme that offers an Introduction to Meth Screening to enable applicants to meet the Careerforce pre-requisites. This programme provides resources to give applicants the knowledge and practical understanding of the meth testing and decontamination industry. It is designed to fill the knowledge gap for trainees before they undertake the NZQA qualification for meth screening.

This course is not a substitute for NZQA qualifications. The NZQA course must be completed if you wish to deliver a screening assessment service in accordance with the New Zealand Meth Testing and Decontamination Standard (NZS 8510:2017).

Our Introduction to Meth Screening Programme is an online course comprising 14 modules. It is estimated to take approximately four hours to complete and can be done at the trainee’s own pace. Quizzes are included throughout to test knowledge and understanding.

The programme covers the following topics:

  • An introduction to the realities of meth
  • In-depth exploration of meth screening assessment options
  • Health and safety considerations
  • Preparation for undertaking a meth screening assessment
  • Best practice for conducting a screening assessment
  • On-site order of process
  • Sampling techniques
  • Sample site selection
  • Frameworks of reference for assessing results and providing advice
  • Interpretation of results and client guidance
  • Reporting requirements
  • Q&A session upon completion to address any queries

Completing the Introduction to Meth Screening Programme will enable you to enrol in and complete the NZQA qualification for the meth sampling and screening course.
